At home with the Janáčeks'

22. 11. 2018 - 24. 2. 2019

Opening hours: Tuesday 9 a.m-3 p.m., Wednesday-Friday 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 1-6 p.m.

The exhibition will show a part of the Janáček Archive (listed recently in UNESCO Memory of the World Register) including so-called 3D collection items, i. e. objects related to Janáček's private life. They constitute a remarkable assemblage that has never been on display yet. The visitors will see objects from Janáček's everyday life, such as writing implements, books from Janáček's library, art objects from his home, toiletries, collection of folk embroideries, tableware, personal effects of his prematurely dead daughter Olga, or a part of Janáček's wardrobe. The exhibition is complemented with extracts of memories of the life at the Janáčeks' - those of the housekeeper Marie Stejskalová, Janáček's wife Zdeňka or the pupils of the composer.
