In the framework of the presentation of its collections the Department of history of theatre displays unique documents showing the theatre and its authors – exhibits connected to the tradition of theatre making families or details of a large patchwork constituting the theatre phenomenon difficult to capture in time and space.

The reconstruction of the theatre art is one of the main preoccupations of any historian of theatre, therefore the visitors will have the chance to see the complex collection of items connected to the world premiere of the play From the Life of Insects by the Brothers Čapek, that took place in Brno in 1922. Besides the model, the scene and costume design by the then main designer of Brno theatre, A. V. Hrska, further authentic artefacts connected to the performance will be on show including the orchestra parts by O. Zítek lent to the museum by the National Theatre Brno for this occasion.
