A new version of the exhibition held in the Puppet Museum Chrudim at the turn of 2014 and 2015 on the occasion of František Vítek´s 85th birthday.

The exhibition presents and appraises the lifelong puppeteer´s work of the important Czech puppeteers and living legends of the puppet theatre – the carver and puppeteer František Vítek (*1929) and the artist and puppeteer Věra Vítková-Říčařová (*1936). It shows first of all puppets and stage design from the Hradec Theatre DRAK where the Víteks met and spent an essential part of their artistic life. On display are jewels of the puppet creation (both in artistic and theatrical sense) from that period, e.g. puppets from the plays Krysařova píšťala (Rat-catcher´s pipe,1970), Žabák hrdina (Frog the Hero, 1968) or complete stage design for the Eulenspiegel (1974). Authentic exhibits are accompanied with further materials such as photographs, posters, etc. The exhibition also shows artefacts and accompanying materials from the later Víteks´ artistic period when they left DRAK and became freelance artists. The exhibition in the Moravian Museum will be complemented with some purpose-made replicas of the not preserved stage design for the presentation of individual puppets (e.g. Faust) and with comprehensive texts and associated events.
